I Wonder If They Remembered Me

one summer
six honey bees
got caught in
my apartment,
and were trying to escape
through a glass window;
so one by one
i gently grabbed them
by their wings
and lead them out the door—
each one turned around
as if to see the face of their rescuer
before they flew away,
and then i read an article that said
bees recognize faces;
i wonder if they remembered me
after they flew away.

The Bumblebee

walking home from work
a bumblebee startled me
huge and buzzing
i watched
as the bumblebee wasted no time
flying into a morning glory
almost too small to accommodate,
i couldn’t help but laugh;
sometimes i wonder
if earth’s creatures know how amusing
they can bee—
nature has music that i cannot help but hear
it’s a pity that some don’t have the patience nor time
to hear.
